Kyle Boch Ravages Transworld!

Kyle has an ad for Glamour Kills in the April issue of Transworld Skateboarding!

If you didn’t know, Kyle is a pretty big deal, and gets free boards from these dudes. Not many people can say that they have literally boosted an ollie to the moon! But Kyle can! Maybe next time they might even put his name in the ad!!

You can check out the whole issue for free at Zinio. The ad is on page 135.

Next up, a SunnySide Transworld ad!? – Not likely…

This video features Dennis Apker, Derek Brennan, Jon Cain and Alex Poole. Thanks for watching, friends.

Trip to Ed Templeton’s Art Show!

So, this was suppose to also be a skate trip…But don’t get your hopes up…

The dudes on the trip:
Hi Alex

Hi Jon

Hi Derek

Jon also felt it was necessary to be a creep and snap these ones on the way too:
Derek (Secret)

Alex (Secret)

And these:
BF4EVER

Phat Dat Moving

There were a ton of people at Ed’s show. And I gotta say, some people had some pretty good B.O.

While we waited to talk to Ed, Jon got inspired by the photos on the wall and decided to try a little photog action of his own:
Photo Merge

We brought Ed a custom SunnySide Tee!
Derek with Ed

He was super stoked…said it made his night! Scope it over at the Toy Machine Site

Jon told Ed how me and Alex have the same birthday as him. Same year too!!
Birthday Buddies

And Jon is convinced that Ed looks bummed in this photo…Probably cause Jon’s birthday is May 25th. What a loser.

Look who else was there again!
Neil Patrick Harris

With the drive, that was a pretty exhausting day. So we got some pizza, from some girl who thought we ordered off the menu funny and said she was “about to bust!” After feeling scared and weirded out by that, we headed back to the Super 8!!

Guess Alex liked the idea of me and Jon sharing a bed, enough to take a photo of it…Or it could have been my sick beanie steeze.
Gay Brothers

Saturday rained all day, which sucked. We drove city to city trying to beat the downpour to the skate park, but we always lost.

We got word of an indoor skatepark from Jordan, but when we got there it was covered in clearance racks and stacks of 20 dollars shoes.

We ended up skating a ledge spot under an overhang. The one dry place we could find all day.

We did get some bird footy for the SunnySide version of Mind Field though, so that’s good.
Bird Footy!

This one is through Alex’s binocs!
Bird Footy Thru Binocs!

Sunday we finally did get to skate 3 parks. One in Brea, which was pretty fun. One in Chino, which sucked cause the good Chino park was still closed for the rain. And one in Corona, which sucked too. Don’t take AZ or Utah parks for granted..Or the fact that we don’t have to worry about getting hassled by the po-po for not wearing pads.

And of course, we didn’t film anything! It wouldn’t be SunnySide if we weren’t blowing it all the time right?

Here’s a photo from after we skated the Brea park, though…so that’s pretty close.
Almost Skating

The End.

How To: Make Your Own Mind Field!

Apparently all you need is a Baby Einstein video, a Dinosaur Jr music video, stock footy of birds, videos of raver kids self-filming, a profile photo, and some mind-blowing skate footy!

Originally posted by Erik Bragg…After this video got 500+ views in a couple hours on YouTube, BURTON CORP/ALIEN WORKSHOP took it down. “Looks like this tutorial is effective enough to trick even Alien Workshop. Ha!”

Artsy Fartsy Fridays III

This week’s Artsy Fartsy Fridays comes from a page that I (Derek) did for a little known zine called “Activity Adventure Qwest” that came out in October 2009. It’s basically a collection of mazes, crosswords, word search, coloring pages, riddles, games, and other activities on paper that you can take with you everywhere that you might be bored!

The zine is available for $5 from The Trunkspace in Phoenix AZ, at Frosty Darling in Salt Lake City UT, or directly from the curator, Camilla Taylor, here.

Feel free to print this out for your friends and try it yourselves.

Old Clarence's Dream Body

Now in the spirit of Artsy Fartsy Fridays, Jon, Alex, and I are off to California to skate and go to Ed Templeton’s art show:
